I read a recent article on CNN sponsored by CareerBuilder.com and Robert Half International. Based on RHI’s 2007 annual salary guide, the following positions are among the highest paid professions in the United States:

  • A Chief Financial Officer’s average starting salary is between US$88,250 and $358,750 excluding bonuses and incentives.
  • A Director of Finance’s average starting salary is between US$88,500 and $184,000.
  • A licensed attorney’s starting salary is somewhere between US$51,000 and $185,500.

  • A Chief Compliance Officer’s starting pay is between US$90,500 and $181,250.
  • As a Chief Information Officer, the average starting salary is between US$120,250 to $200,000 per year.
  • As a Chief Security Officer, the average starting salary is between $97,500 and $141,000 per year.
  • A Vice-President of Corporae Marketing can start earning between US$91,750 and $168,250 per year.

Well, you get the idea. Read the rest of the article for more information including the typical job responsibilities.

The question I would ask is whether or not you want to trade your time for salary, job stress, and increased responsibilities? If you don’t want this kind of lifestyle, I’d start thinking about all the ways you can get your money to work for you instead of the other way around.
